BIG FIVE

What Is the Big Five?
The Science-Backed 5-Factor Personality Model

The Big Five (Five-Factor Model) is the most broadly accepted personality theory in modern psychology. Used by researchers worldwide, it's considered to have higher predictive validity and test-retest reliability than MBTI. This page explains what the 5 factors mean and how 32TypeVerse uses them to define 32 distinct personality types.

The 5 Factors of the Big Five

Human personality can be described, nearly universally, by these 5 factors. Each factor is a continuous dimension — not a binary — and describes tendencies rather than judgments of good or bad.

Big Five vs. MBTI

While MBTI assigns people to one of 16 fixed types via 4 binary axes, the Big Five treats 5 factors as continuous scales — capturing more nuanced differences between people. In academic research, the Big Five is far more widely adopted, and its predictive power for career fit and relationships is considered stronger.
